Treating Veterans
We have been treating veterans at our clinic for over six years, and not only has it been an honor, but we have become familiar with many of the challenges veterans face, from chronic persistent pain to lasting mental stress. It has been rewarding to see how regular acupuncture has helped many of our veterans overcome physical limitations that they thought they would have to live with.
Conditions we have been able to alleviate or improve include:
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Shoulder pain
- Knee pain
- Headaches
- TBI
- Insomnia
- PTSD
- Stress/Anxiety
- Digestive issues
What we do is a bit different, it’s a little more like physical therapy in that we will see you weekly for a set number of treatments, often 12, and gradually work through underlying structural or physiologic issues that are causing, or exacerbating your condition. You may notice a dramatic improvement in your symptoms within the first few treatments, but it is more likely to take some time, especially if it is a condition you have had for a while.
Although acupuncture sounds intense, most of our patients are initially surprised about how relaxing they find it, many even get a short nap in.
We also spend more time with you. Acupuncture treatments usually last an hour and may also include:
- massage
- stretching
- postural exercises
- cupping
- moxibustion
- herbal therapy
Your treatments are fully covered with prior authorization, just ask your VA doctor for a referral to Elliott Acupuncture.
